The Grammys were not so painful last night. There were some definite highlights (Pink’s performance being at the top of that list. I mean. COME ON. When it was over, I had one of those “I am about to cry and I’m not exactly sure why” moments and then I totally cried) and also some low points. Ahem, Taylor Swift: as cute and sunny and talented as you are and I feel totally eveeel for saying this, but…album of the year? Jeeze. Moving on to the good parts. I always judge a solid moment based on whether or not I am prompted to rewind the DVR in order to experience it a second time, and that Rewind Grammy goes to Andy Samberg, who was sitting to Beyonce’s right when she began her performance and totally played it up for the camera. He nodded his head as if to say “Awww yeah, you can see me can’t you? And yes, that’s Beyonce to my left. Flanked by a bunch of dudes in rando SWAT team suits, no less.” And then as Beyonce marched forward in all of her Sasha Fierceness he mouthed a simple “YES,” which was amazing. While I’m going to have to subtract a couple of points for the sunglasses inside, it was one of those unexpected moments I kind of live for when it comes to these shows. Well done.
