I used to work at a fashion magazine and it always delighted me when I'd ask one of my fellow editors where in god's name she got her amazing dress and she'd say something like "Newport News" and smile coyly and walk away. The fact of the matter is, it is easy to wear head-to-toe designer and be 80 pounds and look all Style Icon on a regular basis. MUCH more of a challenge to be a normal person with a normal budget and still pull off an eye-catching look. The Rachel Rachel Roy line (www.rachelroy.com) is a step above Newport News of course, but it's affordable and chic and well-made enough to inspire that addictive little glimmer of discovery and delight.
